Making 3D Figures

I am wanting to make a couple of molded figures (two little girls) and I can't seem to find a tutorial for making the figures. Can somebody point me in the right direction? Thanks very much!

http://extra-icing.blogspot.com/ this shows a great tutorial on how to do faces. AMAZING!!!

Any Debbie Brown (especially the naughty books - they show more "flesh"....) book shows how to make legs, arms, hands, feet etc.
