I've been asked to make a car cake for an 18th birthday (the girl wants a citreon so her mums giving her a cake one) but she would like a model that represents her on the hood of the car. I've never made a 'human' model and was wondering if there are any tutorials or if anyone has instructions on how to make them without moulds. I really hope someone can help me with this as all the books i have use moulds and i dont have the time to order one.

Have a look at some of Debbie Brown's stuff. I recently did a cake with figurines on it and her books helped me a lot with the basics.

Aine2 has fabulous tutorials!

This one is making a girl...

Here's a free one from her on faces...

They're relatively inexpensive and very, very good.

You should also check out your local library or bookstore for books on making figures with polymer clay. The techniques are practically the same. Good luck!
