I've been working on this cake for a co-worker today and I don't know if it's the heat or what but I can't decide whether or not to put a border and if so, what kind of border-rope, flower etc., what to do?!?
Please help wonderful people of CC I'm at loss...

I would say leave it alone - it looks absolutely beautiful the way it is.
A small boarder of "pearls" or a small rope to match the yellow fondant would be nice and would finish the bottom nicely.

If it was me, I'd add a bottom border, simply because my artist sister and my artist ex-husband taught me that a painting should have a frame that appears to "support" the painting ... so it doesn't appear to be just hanging in mid-air. That rule of thumb applies to lots of thing, including cake decor.
Again.....it's nice the way it is, too.

It's beautiful as is, but I would add a small border to even the look with what's going on at the top - just for balance. Or - maybe not even a border, maybe a few of the flowers with a little choco ribbon or something. Just something to balance the look. BUT- yes, I agree that it's beautiful as is, also! Guess that wasn't much help, huh! LOL

Second: I'm with you. I don't know what to think either. The previous posts are all right. With or without a border would be just the same, but indydebi has a good point. Good luck deciding on the finishing touch on your masterpiece!

If it were my cake I would border it similar to the bordering on the circle dooey on top. White and brown. The angle of the picture makes it seem like the brown swags are really pronounced so you want a border to blend but a small bead will be too diminished under the heavy swag swag I think. I would go for a plain rope or something substantial to balance with the swag but that would blend color wise.

You didn't ask this but the board is not doing justice to the outstanding cake. And I think you made a great choice on the border.
