I need to know if there is a secret to putting a fondant ribbon around the bottom of a BC iced cake before I attempt it. I am stacking an 8 and a 6 inch cake . I didn't know if I should put the ribbon before I stack them or after. Also how to attach them in the back.

I would put it on after stacking. I put it on before stacking (blue cake in photos) and it cracked when I stacked them.........a lesson learned the hard way. HTH

I would do it after you stack it. You will see as you start attaching it the fondant will just naturally stick to the BC, so you will only have to cut it to size and make the two ends meet in the back. If you have problems making it stick, a little water (or vodka since it evaporates quickly) to dampen the back of the fondant should do the trick. Don't worry...you will NEVER taste the alcohol!

Good luck. (Most cakes I do are BC with fondant accents so I am pretty sure you won't have any trouble!)
