I am very new to this and I hate to ask such a question after seeing all of the beautiful work here, but I want to transfer a pattern to a buttercream iced cake, ie a cartoon character, etc. How do I do this? I would like to use buttercream for the pattern. Thanks for any suggestions!

if you click on the articles tab and search for a buttercream transfer you will find a set of execellent instructions .hope this helps
