I have my frist wedding cake to make for a extended family memeber. It looks like the average price seems to be $2.50 a portion/ slice .

How much do you charge ??

I am going to offer the family memebr a discount , I jsut do not want it to be toomuch where I do not make any money on it .

Thanks in advance for your input .

Happy Baking !

Julie

Where are you in New York? $2.50 a serving seems to be on the low side for NY, but I guess it depends what part of the state you're in.

I'd check around and see what small shops are getting per serving, not what larger bakeries who can charge lower prices because of volume are charging. $2.50 a serving would be what I'd offer a family member as their discounted price, but I wouldn't go lower than that. Once you add in your time and materials you won't make anything at all if you go much lower.
