Well we usually use the tub stuff but I like the Wilton basic icing for that real homemade taste! I think they post the recipe on their site - that might go with berries nice.
You can go with pretty well any flavor icing for a white cake. Check in the recipe section here.
You can go with berries, peaches, the cream cheese that the previous poster mentioned, jello packages for flavor and color, or a combo of any of the above. You could even go with a champagne. I think there is a champagne cake recipe somewhere, but why not use that in the icing instead of or in addition to? Strawberries, and champagne......mmmmmmmmmm!
I've added some cream cheese to the Wilton recipe, and it was sooooo good!
