fondantfrenzy, i don't live in the US, so i was wondering, if there are any issues with my account, would paypal still call me on the phone, instead of corresponding via email?
mike, my paypal is linked to my credit card, to date, i haven't seen any activites i don't recognize.. hmm what should i do? should i call my credit card company to warn them? or do i contact paypal first to clarify this matter?
ETA: i checked www.paypal.com, to my relief, the same thing that was mentioned in the email, was also there in my account on paypal. so i guess it isn't a scam after all.
We had a phone call through the relay service a few months back; it was right during lunch service, so they were told to send an e-mail, and that was the e-mail (similar, different name) we received. I've seen that letter several times on CC, so I KNEW as soon as I saw it that it was a scam, but my boss had NO idea, and had corresponded with them some. When I told her it was fake and e-mailed her copies of posts from other people that have gotten the same e-mail, she couldn't BELIEVE that someone would do that with CAKE!

I would change the acct# for your CC at Paypal. You can al;ways put it back later. I would certainly call PP.
Good luck wishng you the best.
Mike
The only way to realyy find out if paypal sent the email is to forward it to [email protected]. These scammers haven't accessed your account or cards at this point as long as you haven't sent any information to them. Your safe. Just forward it directly to spoof.
I've seen this email on a couple different Cake forum sites. What a jacka$$.
Gotta be careful with Paypal emails. I got 2 now, that looked legit, but just to be sure I sent to [email protected] and sure enough, they were phishing.
mclaren, the email you got is one of the ones that paypal told me was a scam DON'T REPLY!!

Exactly, if you forward it to Paypal, they are pretty good at telling you if its a spoof or not...
hi all,
i've never replied the email from paypal. however it baffles me that when i logged into paypal, i'm seeing the same thing (access limitation) mentioned in my account.
nevertheless, i've forwarded the email to [email protected], so, we'll see how that goes. thanks for giving the spoof email address, i never knew the existence..

I received the same email this morning and forwarded it to paypal. They confirmed it was a phishing email and will investigate it.
