I need to make this bow and know the basics but some detail like how to dry it so it doesn't get distorted.
How to measure it so it isnt a tiny after thought. The cake is going to be a10 or 12 in. Square. I have to make it this coming week and could use tips from Godiva, or anyone who is successful with this kind of bow.
How thin should it be 1/8" or thinner. and how wide so doesnt look funny. A nice full big bow.

Thanks so much ALL!

I'm not sure about thickness but to dry it, you can either form the bow and stick rolled up papertowels in there, or let each piece dry around a pvc pipe, or papertowel roll covered in parchment

Hi,
I used this very same photo for inspiration for my gift box cake! I didn't use 50/50, so mine is much thicker.
I cut my fondant about 3" x 6.5". I folded the two ends into the middle and pinched to secure (and dabbed a tiny bit of water on the ends). I wrapped the center part around the bow (securing on the back) and stuffed tissue in the loops and let it dry overnight.
Good luck and post photo thumbs_up.gif

I love your cake. I knew I say another one somewhere.Beautiful!
So you cut the ribbon 6.5" x3 how big is the cake it is sitting on?
I'm trying to get a feel for the length and width I will need for a 12" cake.

And you wrapped it around before it was all dry right?

Thank you!
In my pictures, the yellow square cake with the same bow on it, was a 9" square cake. I would probably go to 8" or 8.5" on a 12" cake. Don't forget to make the width of the strip a bit wider also. Maybe 4" wide.
Yep, I make the entire bow up and then let it dry. And the ribbons! I usually go ahead and place bow/ribbons on the cake and let it all dry overnight.

Width of the strip? you mean the over hang? ,sorry, I've done a box (look in pics) but not like this one. and the bow tails, same width as the rest of the bow? and the length?
Thanks you for the help. I will be making it tonight if I can
