Do any of yall own a Sphynx or know some one who does? I was wondering if this is a cat that yall like or is there something about you that turns you off. I am looking in to getting one. We just sold our pekingese because my husband was having health problems due to his long hair and he is fine around the Sphynx cat breed. We found a breeder in our area who seems to be very friendly and have great cats but I just wanted to know what yall think about them.

TIA,
Tracy

Interesting choice. I hope his allergies are better. My son was so allergic to cats that they made him have nose bleeds. Because of that I can not help you with your quest on information about the breed. I'm sure there is a cat organization that would have information on this breed. Good Luck

Well I got her and she is the most friendly cat. She is very outgoing and not shy like most cats when they come home. She just jumps around and loves to play but as soon as you get in bed she wants to be there too. She was also great about going in her litter box right away. The breeder was very nice and explained everything about her. What is really great is that she is 12 weeks old so she is more outgoing then the little baby kittens.

Yes, her name is Cleo short for Cleopatra my husband said I should name her ratfenc though cause she looks like a rat. She is awsome she is very different then other cats I have had. She wants to see everything that is going on and she wants to sleep in my bed with me under the covers. She was friendly from the minute I got her but I think it was because she was raised around children so she was used to all the sounds.

Wow! I'm so jealous!!! But if I have one it will freeze out here! it's -40 degrees here (with wind factor) brrrrr, she would need a really big blanky....

How big is she? is that kind of cat getting really big, just normal or smaller? I love cats, big cats especially. But I know I won't be able to get one because of my homebased bakery. I keep my dog because it's a no shred breed, but when he dies I won't get anymore pets. icon_cry.gif Except if we move into another house, I'll have a separate kitchen for my bakery. Here it's not a an illegal thing to sell from your own kitchen, but I know it'll change in a few years....

Enjoy your new "baby" !!!!

They get anywhere from 10 to 16 pounds. She doenst look that big but when you pick her up you can feel the weight on her. I understand about the wind but did you know Sphynx where first breed in Canada. These kind of cats cant go outside in the winter or the summer because in the winter they can freeze and in the summer they can get sunburn. As for it being to cold as long as she is in the house she would be fine because if your cold she would be cold as well.

Oh yeah and as for shedding I think thats what you said well these cats dont shed obviously because they dont have any hair. If you have never felt a sphynx you should they are amazing and there body tem is 107 all the time so they always feel hot.

hmmmm....that would be good to get at my house when I own one, just rent right now.
If they are good with kids that's really good, because I have a 30 (soon to be 31) year kid (my hubby) and my 6 year old son.

They are great where I got my sphynx from there where 3 kids there and I have a daughter and my sister came this weekend and my kitten is great with both of them. She has LOTS of energy and loves to play all the time. I am just amazed at how much more friendly this kitten is to others. Like right now while I am on the computer she is sitting in my lap and doesnt want to go anywhere and if I am in my bed guess what she is right there next to me.
