I didn't know that choclate has a trick in melting icon_lol.gif . I put 3 bars in a microwavable plastic container for 3 minutes. Isaw the choclate from the outside and it didn't look melted but shiny.
So I opened the door and noticed there was a hole in the container!!! Has that ever happened to anybody? I've used this container before and nothing ever happened to it. How strong or dangerous is the choclate I only used store bought choclate (Tollhouse). Anyways does anyone know of a good way to melt choclate?

Hey there! I am new here too, but I have melted chocolate lot's, so I feel like I could have something to say on this subject. icon_smile.gif I always melt my chocolate in a glass microwaveable bowl and only for 30 seconds to one minute at a time. This way you avoid scorching the chocolate. Also you do not want to melt the chocolate completely in the microwave. Melt it about 2/3 and then stir it until it is completely melted. I hope that this helps.

I agree with Chen. If you're going to use the microwave, use glass bowls. I always use the defrost setting. It takes a little longer, but there's no danger of scorching.

You can also melt chocolate in a bowl set over a pot of BARELY simmering water. You must be careful not to let even a DROP of water get in your chocolate or it will seize. As long as your water never boils, you'll have no problem.
