Substitute For Buttercream Under Rolled Fondant

I made fondant capped cupcakes and used apricot glaze to stick it down with. Just heat your preserves and strain the fruit bits out, brush on and cover with your fondant. I think any preserve or jam would work, but orange marmalade or apricot would compliment your cake.
Worked great and tasted wonderful!
