Baseball Hat Cake To Feed 20- Urgent Help

Hi Guys,
I have an order to do baseball hat cake that will feed 20 people. What size cake should I do? Should I do an 8" cake? How should I go about doing it?
I did one earlier where I used 6" cake and wilton half ball on top to give the shape.
How should I attempt the bigger cake!

Please HELP!

What about putting the hat on a sheet cake - maybe shaped like home plate?
