Would like to make a tiered barbie cake for daughter who will be four. I love how the strawberry shortcake tiered cakes look! Any suggestions would be great...

color and design?

I do not want to do the wonder mold barbie cake!

Thanks in advance.

You could model it after the Strawberry Shortcake one and use pink and purple color scheme.

I did one for my daughter's birthday... I copied a design from Wilton's yearbook...

I used rolled buttercream, but you can use buttercream or fondant..

Marialovescakes:
rolled buttercream? Is there a recipe for that? Is it easier than fondant? I have never done fondant and it scares me.

I like your cake! Thanks for sharing I will have to try that!! - once I figure out fondant (or the rolled buttercream)

Yes, for rolled buttercream there is a recipe... It should be posted here under recipes... It tastes really good but it is a little tricky to work with.. kind of greasy too... You can use buttercream instead if you don't have that much experience with fondant... but it really isn't that big of a deal... Do a couple of practice cake with fondant to get the feel for how it works and you will be on your way....

If you stil want to try rolled buttercream, let me know and I'll see if I can get you the recipe.

Here is one I did. I decorated each tier different and put a barbie candle on top.

I did use buttercream...but fondant would look really pretty too. Fondant can be really fun to play with...and I think it makes a cake look great. Hope to pics when you are done!

traci - pics won't be here anytime soon with the barbie cake - (my daugher won't be three until april - she has already picked out that she wants barbie at 4 and dora at 5 (she cracks me up!!)
But by saturday I should have a picture of a hawaiian cake I am doing. (if I think it looks good enough to be on this site) icon_smile.gif
