use ice cream cones.
i have a castle cake in my photos, inspired by many cakes on this site. i glued 2 flat-bottomed cones end to end with buttercream. then topped it with a sugar cone and covered the whole thing in buttercream.

use pre-packaged swiss rolls. worked great on my castle cake.
