How Do I Make Gold Accents Using Fondant?

I will be making my nieces baptism cake in 2 weeks. I want to make a 3 tier white BC cake, and want to put gold stars as accents using fondant. Can any one tell me how to do this? icon_confused.gif I have seen may beautiful cakes on CC with gold accents and am wondering how to do it.

Painting the stars with gold luster dust is the way to go. Use a clear liquor such as Vodka or Everclear to liquidfy the dust and it will dry very quickly.

How much liquor/dust do I use, and is it edible?

I made a gold fondant eagle and it came out nice. I made the fondant yellow. Then I mixed gold luster dust and vodka together to make a paint and painted it on. I let it dry and re-painted several coats.
