The main thing to me is that it's super cheap to make. Just one bag of mini marshmallows, powdered sugar and water. Viola!
It tastes a gazillion times better than Wilton's fondant. It's fast and it's easy. It colors just like store bought fondant and can be flavored the same too.
It's very soft compared to the store bought kind and may not dry as fast so in that case, you can always add some Tylose powder to harden it.
I don't really see any cons at all.
