Hi everyone and thanks in advance for your help.
The more coloring I add the more the MMF becomes gummy and impossible to work with. I've tried different colorings and it doesn't matter. To get black I still have to add way too much coloring. Is there a powder coloring? If so, will this help and where do I get it? Global Sugar doesn't only has liquid/gel coloring that I have seen. Thanks again for any advice you could give.

i think you'll have better luck starting with a chocolate mmf. it's already dark so you don't have to use near as much coloring. rhonda's ultimate mmf recipe has a chocolate version: http://www.cakecentral.com/cake_recipe-3193-0-Rhondas-Ultimate-Chocolate-MMF.html

hth!

look for the post on true black fondant> you start with a chocolate based fondant so you don't have to work in as much coloring to get it dark

good luck
