Does This Cake Need Dowels?

I'm making 2 sheet cakes that are 12x16x3 stacked on top of each other with the Wilton cross pan on top of that. Do I need to put dowels in to support the cross? Thank you in advance icon_smile.gif

well now IMHO I wouldn't think you would have to add dowels however to be on the safe side especially if you are going to transport the cake very far I would add a few HTH icon_smile.gif

I would use dowels (straws) ... IMO is not worth risking it. HTH.

You are talking about 6 to 10" of cake ? I would DEFINATELY throw a couple of dowels in there.......
