I know it involves a pencil and wax paper but the rest I'm not sure about. Do you just trace the pencil on the wax paper and then rub it on?
Thanks for any suggestions.

Are you just wanting the outline to show on the fondant or cutting it out?

If just outline do the technique like you were saying... and press firm but not hard enough to go through fondant

or just trace from wax paper on to fondant and cut out if you were wanting a cut out.

actually thinking about it... to trace using the wax paper on the fondant I'd use something less sharp then a pencil... maybe a celstick icon_smile.gif (real small one)
