Parchment paper or waxed paper. She should also ask for food-safe flowers from the florist.

Most florists don't handle food safe flowers.... I'm a past florist 
Most don't even handle organic, which have not been sprayed. So, the barrier of SOMETHING between the flowers and the cake is always a good thing...
