I am making a baby shower cake for my cousin next month and she is going to try and raise the baby boy completely green with cloth diapers and all. So I thought I would use this as the inspiration for my cake but I am having a hard time getting started. Any suggestions?
Thank you!

We thought about using cloth diapers with our first child but then we realized what all we would have to be washing out of the diapers and changed our minds....

If you did a sheet cake you could do a picture of a whimsical tree with a baby hanging from a little hammock type thing, peeking out.

If you did a tiered cake you could make a topper with the baby sleeping inside a big curled up leaf and decorate the cake in leaves.

I'm sure some of the cake veterans will have some better ideas. I'm sure you'll do great

Second the baby kermit, but must also add "it's not easy being green" icon_biggrin.gif

hear hear to the Kermy cake . . . I also did the cloth diaper route . . . and . . . like someone said "it's not easy being green" . . . I think that is a very appropriate theme . . . here's a link to the Henson "babies" . . . might come in handy?? http://images.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/muppet/images/thumb/0/06/Character.babykermit.jpg/250px-Character.babykermit.jpg&imgrefurl=http://muppet.wikia.com/wiki/Baby_Rowlf_(puppet)&h=223&w=250&sz=11&hl=en&start=13&um=1&tbnid=qi8-wbWd8NjQqM:&tbnh=99&tbnw=111&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dbaby%2Bkermit%2Bimage%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-USicon_surprised.giffficial%26hs%3DVof

maybe you could do a laundry cake . . . have Kermy in a wash tub with a clothes line like this one . . . http://www.cakecentral.com/cake-photo_1117753.html

I like the Kermit and "It's not easy being green" idea. You could make the cake to look like a stack of diapers, with a baby Kermit on top, and do some diaper pins here and there and a pair of the plastic pants that go over the cloth diapers.

When I use them 30 years ago, back then most use pampers only if they were going to be out away from home (most around here did). I had some of the plastic pants with the snaps on the sides, I love thoses the best...you could make the pants like that with the snaps on the sides. You could even make a little diaper pail. I do have to say, cleaning those diapers is one thing I do not miss about my children being babies icon_biggrin.gif

God Bless,
Sharon
p.s. I know the plastic pants for the cloth diapers, doesn't sound very green (being plastic)...so I found this info on AP about bioplastics. Here is a link, if you or your cousin might want to check it out.
