So I bought pink fondant but its a bit bright, how do I tone it down? Also, which icing is best, buttercream or royal icing, when writing/decorating on fondant?

Take a blob of white fondant and add small amounts of pink to it until it's the shade you like.

I've used both buttercream and royal on fondant. They both work equally well.
