Substitute Unsalted Butter In Nfsc Recipe??

I only have unsalted butter and I need to make NFSC today. Can I use unsalted butter in place of salted butter? Should I add extra salt? How much. The recipe calls for 2 cups of butter.

TIA. I'm trying to avoid a trip to the store with my 3 girls just for butter. icon_confused.gif

Hope I'm not too late - I always use unsalted butter in my NFSC, and everybody loves them! I don't add any extra salt, just follow the recipe exactly.

Thanks Laura. I ended up making them with the unsalted butter and added a little extra salt. I still have some unsalted butter in the freezer though, so I will try it without next week.

I know you already made your batch but just thought I'd chime in anyway icon_wink.gif I've used salted and unsalted butter with the recipe I've even used one stick of each before. It doesn't seem to affect the recipe all that much. thumbs_up.gif

I know this is answered but here is my 2 cents. Unsalted doesn't change it any. I make them this way and no one notices. I use almond extract in them to give them flavor.
