My Cupcake Courier Arrived! (Comparisons)

And it is VERY well made! The plastic is rubbermaid quality - not just the box itself, but also the trays for cupcakes. I love that the lid comes off and you can stack the cupcakes. Very, very nice. Deep enough cupcake niches so they won't tip over, but shallow enough to pick them up. Spacing between each layer is 3 1/8". Carrying handle is molded of the same plastic, so no worries of it detaching on you. The interior space for cake purposes is 14.25 inches long by 11 1/8 inches wide. Interior height is just a smidgen under 9".
Cons: expensive (three times the alternatives, but can you really compare as this holds more too?), and it's big for storage purposes, but the alternatives aren't much smaller. The interior size doesn't allow for a 10 inch cake on a 12 inch plate. I was hoping to fit a 2 tier cake inside - 10 inch base with 6 inch topper. I would have room heightwise as long as I didn't have tall decorations on top, but with it only being 11 1/8 wide I can't do that.
Things I like better about this one than the Martha Stewart carrier: This one holds 36, that one holds 27. That one you lower the tray of cupcakes into the pan with little removeable tabs. THose tabs look flimsy and they very easily detached while in the carrier which would make it hard to remove the trays if they fell off in transit. Plastic is very brittle, hard, cheap plastic. Container cannot hold a cake, only cupcakes. Each cupcake niche is very shallow. The carrying handles is held on two hard plastic "pins". It didn't feel sturdy and I would REALLY be afraid that after a little use, one of the pins would snap meaning you would have to carry it without a handle. Lastly, space between cupcake layers is 2.5 inches versus 3 1/8
Things I like better about this one than the Oneida 24 cupcake carrier: This one only holds 24 cupcakes versus 36. I would need two carriers for my son's class (he has 25 students, one teacher and a couple aids for his class usually). Second, the bottom carrier is the actual cupcake pan. While the plus is that it saves on storing a carrier and a pan, it also means that it's deep and picking up a cupcake without smudging the icing is more difficult AND unless you are very tidy in your baking, you'll need to clean it up and dry it before using it. Though I think I would use this one for transporting only and not use the pan for cooking to keep it clean and presentable looking, so there goes the space saving plus. Lastly, in the photos on amazon, it looks like there isn't much space between the layers, so some decor wouldn't fit.
I won't even compare it to Wilton's 3 in 1 cake pan as that one can only hold 12 cupcakes.
There you have it!
