Hi I am thinking of getting some Magic Line cake pans. I was thinking two 10", one 8", one 6" and 1/2 sheet cake size (what size is that?) also should I get 2" or 3" deep? Thanks.

Those sound like good pan suggestions for a beginner. A 1/2 sheet is 12x18.

Personally, I only use 2" pans for baking my cakes. It's whatever you have the best luck with personally.

I also use 2" pans. All of my standard cakes are 2 - 2" layers with filling. In my opinion, if you can, get two 8" pans because I find that I use that size a lot and if you make your cakes two layers, its nice to have two pans of the same size so you don't have to wash pan, refill and bake a second layer. Someday, I will make sure I have two pans of every size (still dreaming!). Also, sheet pans are great to have! I use my 12"x18" (1/2 sheet) and my 9"x13" (1/4) alot. I also have an 11"x15" but I don't use that one as much as the other two. Magic Line pans are great, especially in the sheet and square pans because they have a perfect 90 degree corner where the Wilton pans have a slight flare to them.
