Yay--picked up all of my certificates and licenses today.

I am legal...the kitchen already has a health inspection in the school's name so I can start baking and then the HD will be out to check me out.

I don't think I have ever written as many checks in one day...LOL!!!
Hope it's all worth it! I will post some pics this evening of "my" kitchen.

hold the phone...am I right in reading that you're renting your space from a school kitchen? I didn't think a school would consider doing that.

Congrats by the way! icon_biggrin.gif

If you are using a school kitchen, how did you go about getting permission...if you don't mind me asking. Is it expensive? How are you absorbing the cost?...sorry about all the questions, it's just that I was just thinking about this before I saw your post and never thought a school would go for it. This gives me hope when I'm just about ready to give up! icon_smile.gif

It's a private school.

Thanks everyone--
To start off, I had an "in" before I approached the school. I use to work (catering) with the cook at this private school. Long story short, she was let go. The school has not found anyone to replace her so the children bring sack lunches or money to send out.

It is a totally private school paid for by the parents or scholarships and fundraisers. In fact, my Tablescape 2008 cake was for the fundraiser--they wanted to raise $100,000 and actually exceeded it by $4000.00

So the kitchen just sat there being unused. I called the lady that came up with the Tablescape idea as she is on the Board. She thought they would go for the idea. I talked with the Director, wrote up a proposal to use the kitchen 3-4 nights a week from 6:00-10:00 for $400.00 a month. They accepted the offer. I have done lots of baking for many of the Board members and some for the school so my foot was already in the door.

Go for whatever you can. You can always make something work.
