I am making a disco ball for the top of a 2 tier cake. The ball is not going to be edible. I bought a 6" styrofoam ball. The question I have is how many 1" squares would I need to cover the ball. I cut out 100 of them last night and it looks like it could be enough but it is hard to imagine them on the ball. Also would I just use regular BC icing to cover the ball and then place the fondant squares on?

You could PM someone who has done a disco ball and ask them about the sizes or any other questions you may have. I do know Sharon (AKA Sugarshack) has done a disco ball cake and I have seen some others also here.
Maybe you could do a search in pics and PM the person who has made one. I know they will do their best to help you if they can. Good Luck!
