I have some leftover crusting cream cheese icing and I was wondering if I can add cocoa powder to it to make it chocolate. Will that work?

Yes...I've done that and it's very good! 
Of course, you may need a little extra liquid after adding the cocoa. HTH

Alternatively, a little soft chocolate ganache. You may have to add a little more 10x to get it to consistency though.
