First Time Trying Lustre Dust Help!

Hiya! I was trying to use the Wilton lustre dust to add some shimmer, but I want to make it into a paste, I guess so I can paint it on. I have read to add alcohol, and that you can mix it with vanilla. I put a little bit less than 1/2 teaspoon clear rum in a bowl and added a little bit, about 1 tiny pinch of dust, but it didn't seem to mix, it still looked grainy.
Can someone give me measurements of about how much of each part to mix together to get my paste/paint? And can you use vanilla?
Thank you!
The Wilton stuff is NOT luster dust. It's simply ground up edible glitter which dissolves in liquid. It's meant to be used dry.
Exactly! Wilton does not make a true luster dust. Their shimmer dust will clump if mixed with alcohol.
oh no! it even says it on the package! I'm so mad.. ![]()
The good news though is that as of today CC sells luster dust at a great price! I can't wait to get some and try it out!!!
And they say don't use rum when you use luster dust. It has too much sugar in it. Use vodka or gin.
