I was asked to make a 'half sheet' and have both an 11 x 15 or a 12 x 18 pan.
Does anyone know the dimensions of 1/2 sheet?
I found this
Quarter sheet: 9 x 12
Half sheet: 11 x 15
Full sheet: 18 x 24
HTH
tiggy 2:That's what I use too, and I give the measurement to my customer so they don't expect a monster like from the Walmart and Targets.
I just did another search and seams like there are differnt opinions on this but the most popular seams to be as Tiggy2 mentioned.
1/4=13" x 9"
1/3=11" x 15"
1/2=12" x 18" unless you have a commercial oven this is probably the biggest pan that will fit in your oven. To be on the safe side measure before you buy one.
full 24" x 16" need a commercial oven for this one
I think half sheets are like printer ink cartridges. It's confusing, as one person's half sheet is another persons 1/3rd sheet. and then some manufacturers put all kinds of weird stuff in between. As for the full sheet thingee. I have always done the two half sheet thing on those, as for baking an Actual full sheet and getting it out of the pan.......omg what a mess!!!!!
I agree with chaptlps, very confusing!
Like I mentioned earlier different sites say different measurements. I just found this on Baking 911
Half sheet pan Standard 18x13x1 or 16x12x2 or x3 or 18x12x2 - approx. 12 cups - serves 30 to 48
So I think they go by volume more than by inches for what is considered a half sheet. They refer to 12 cups of batter. Does this make sense. From what it says on the Baking 911 your pan is also considered a 1/2 sheet ![]()
The bakery I worked in used 12x16 for a 1/2 sheet
I also called other bakeries since I was also confused about the 1/2 sheet and I was told the same 12x16. I have been trying to find that size, my magic line is 12x15 and can't find a 12x16 so I just use the size I have.
8x12= 1/4 sheet
12x18= 1/2 sheet
18x24= full sheet
This is what I use. I always ask people though how many they want the cake to serve. I also explain to them how big a serving size is, because some folks cut big honkin' pieces of cake!
For simplicity, I too consider an 11x15= 1/3 sheet
