Ive gone nuts. So, I bought my cake dummies and when I walked in the door my dh looked at me like I was crazy. I think I bought at least 8 big, small, round and square ones. I don't think he understands the concept of icing a piece of foam. It doesn't work out for him since he can't eat it! Oh well, now Im feeling better I am going to start practicing my Brothers wedding cake and since my Wilton class starts on Monday I can use them to practice what I learn there! So, ya'll will probably start seeing a lot of pics from me!!!

I have to admit that when i first became intersted in cake decorating I too did not understand the dummie cake thing, but after a few cakes I understand that you need to practice practice practice!!

I agree. I at first thought how horrible to waste good icing on a dummy then just scrape it off. Then I started to try more difficult techniques and I got it then. I have even put my cake pans up side down and practised borders on them. Cheaper than dummies but you still get the practise for the cake sides and drop string work too.
