Holy crow now I gotta change my pad
What is she holding? I'd look like that too if I was holding my own pancreas.
Hey, but you did a nice job on her flippers
Gotta stop, getting weird looks from my co-workers....
what page is the russian on...I think I missed that dude...my Chewbacca might like that pancreas
OH MY WORD!!! Discolady, your description of Julia Roberts is WAY too funny!! I had SUCH a hard time not cracking up out loud!! Its past 1am here, and my hubby is fast asleep beside me...oh man though!!! LOL!!!!
Nice job on her flippers though....LOL!!!
*cant stop laughing*
i love the "things are awkward" cake!
it's so hard to laugh quietly and i've got tears in my eyes.
"Holding my own pancreas"
hahahaha *cheeks hurt*
I needed this.....
Well I'll prepare you on total disaster in few days- I have never ever used fondant, I will MAKE fondant myself, I'm still missing basic ingredients for fondant and I'll have to go to another country to buy it... And I will try to make my niece 2 level fondant cake for b-day.... It's doomed in start!!

I love it! This made me laugh so hard.
Oh my goodness, I just went through all 13 pages and have been laughing myself silly, tears down my face, almost can't breathe at times, I've been hysterical!!! This has been too much fun! I thought I'd never breathe again when I saw the Russian and then his girlfriend, Dora the Hutt, LOL!
But, being a newbie, I'll say that some of what you guys are considering bad, I look at and think, wow, that's great! I'll be making my own tomorrow (ok, today by the time any of you read this) for my 9 yr old's belated kid party. I've made the gumpaste flowers and pray they don't break or anything. She wanted ladybugs too, to go around the bottom and I'm not exactly thrilled with these little red "bodies". I think they're too pudgy, to say the least, but she wants them anyway and wanted them that way specifically. Oh well!
Thanks for the hilarity in the wee hours, it's been fun!!!
LOL, bwonderful I think Chewbacca is still in there! The original thread is intact up to Oct 13 and I know Chewie was posted looong before that. That bear cake was in the old thread too, but I think Chewbacca trumped him. You just have to dig in to find him (trust me it's worth it!)
You all are seriously posting some frightful cakes. Beachcakes I'm so glad you reposted that Born Free ship, I totally thought of that cake when I was pondering which gems got lost in the crash!!
Gee I'm flattered that you ladies are still discussing my wonderfully hideous Chewbacca...I guess he should be put into the hall of fame as the worlds ugliest cake. Well for those of you haven't seen him, here he is again in all his glory
I'm so so sorry that I'm going to say this...I was reading this thread backwards and was laughing (mostly inside) at many of the cakes and comments. Then I got to this comment and your cake and I actually burst out laughing. My coworkers are looking at me like I'm nuts. Seriously, it's the best laugh I've had all day.
I didn't make this one, but my sis did. After I took my Wilton classes she was inspired to try her hand at decorating as well, and so she played around with trying to make a Jack-O-Lantern cake for mom's work.
Well, she was going for scary and got it, but not in the way she intended...
OMG do any of you see the Tin Foil Monster Man coming to eat that wanna be jack-o-lantern? He looks angry at that cake!
holy cr*p! I can't stop laughing!
I haven't laughed that hard in so long that I can't remember
while I don't think that I can 'beat' the Russian... I thought I'd add to the 'cow pile'
I made this for my DH on his birthday at my mom's house with her devil dog... seriously the dog is on mood modification meds!... I attempted to make a deal with the dog not to mess with my cake... frakin' dog took a bite out of my cake at 2 am!!! while it was cooling. no deal. so a round cake became a rectangle cake and I just eyeballed the size and well nothing seemed to line up and it started to slide apart, then when I came back in the morning it was a mess! I did have pretty chocolate tools to put on it, but it's a little like lipstick on a pig...
poor hubby.
Say's the handy man, "Excuse me Ma'am your episiotomy is showing... maybe a few nails will help and that flab on the side of your lag I can just plum saw off!"
Just send this little ditty to DR. 90210 as per instructions for vaj-ay-jay repair!
I am dying laughing over here and a little embarrassed, some of these "worst" cakes are what I can only hope to accomplish aside from some of the colors (Edna ) But here is my very first fondant cake and at the time I thought it was great but now that I am a little bit more experienced I see that it is an absolute nightmare and I cannot believe I actually gave it to someone!
and let's not even get into the bumpy mess of a cake on the second picture... I once heard on a cake show that flowers are my friend well I guess I took that to heart just a little to much as I was trying to hide the disaster that was supposed to be an inside out german chocolate cake.
OMG do any of you see the Tin Foil Monster Man coming to eat that wanna be jack-o-lantern? He looks angry at that cake!
That is too funny, actually looks like a transformer back there.
Sorry I don't have any with me to share. My very first cake was for 4th of July last year, I now refer to it as "The Sad Little Cake". My first attempt at fondant was on a cake now dubbed "The Smurf Cake", Baby Blue it was not. My father's favorite was one I did with fondant and all different sizes and colors of leaves. It was flat and just pitiful.
I'm sitting her now with my eyes watering needing to go to the bathroom. I love this thread.
Chewie & The Russian!!!!!

LMBO!!!!
Were you on LSD or was the cat????
Why blue????
The carving wasn't bad especially for a first cake....but oh that BLUE!!!
I just about covered my laptop in ice tea when I opened and read the title, Warning.....don't take a drink when reading funny posts!!
OMG! I want to post this picture so bad but it just will not upload. You guys crack me up. I feel like I just spent hours on Cakewrecks.
Oh how i've missed this thread....glad to see it back!
I'm posting a pic of a cake that was actually inspired by Discolady, hers is much better of course. I decided about 5 hours before Thanksgiving dinner that I wanted to do this cake and it was only my second stacked cake. So my family has dubbed it "The leaning Tower of Thanksgiving"
Please don't hate me Discolady!!!! I so did not know how to use tips either!
P.S. There were only 25 people there to eat this cake!!!
Can I still add a photo to this amazing thread? Reading this has reinstated my love and faith in cake decorating. WE all do start somewhere! And I know that in the glory of a full on tantrum/breakdown where I declare defeat that I am never alone! My husband might give me that look (from a distance because he's too scared to enter the kitchen, lol) with wide-eyes and sheer concern for my mental well-being. I'm so glad there's a place where people who truly understand can share their epic failures and still laugh. I think I've actually matched all those tears with laughs at this point from reading these posts. HILARIOUS!
Here is my contribution and I guess I shouldn't be ashamed to admit that it was made very recently. I am a confident baker but decorating is still new to me. This cake was a garden-inspired birthday cake for my niece. I whipped up a batch of MMF to make the decorations which I'd done enough times before. But this was my first time actually applying fondant to the sides of a cake. This is the day that I learned cc frosting and fondant are mortal enemies...or at least for me. Afterwards, I came here for advice and some claimed they've never had trouble. The fence and sunflower border along with side of the cake quickly melted into a pile of goo at the base. I was so mad and embarrassed. When I brought it to my sisters my 7 year old niece said the cutest thing - "It's okay, you tried your best and that's all you can do. Plus, I love it!". Her comment was the only thing that pulled me out of what felt like dark depression that day, lol. Now I can actually laugh about it.
Oh my I would have to post all of mine lol I wish i have saved the one I helped my friend make for her nieces wedding that one was worthy of cake diasters poor girl was soo disapointed! When I take pictures of my cakes( and I know a lot of us do that especially the ones posting their first cake) I make sure to take the best angle.. I know that's cheating sorry!! I'll try and find a real picture of my cakes :)
AUghhh I HATED this cake but its what she asked for. I guess I could of done it better but went totally brain dead hahaha!
AWell I guess after reading 7 pages of cake disasters I should upload my worst cake. Recent and only the second fondant cake I did. It was very hot out and we had no room in the fridge so I crossed my fingers and hoped to god it wouldn't fall apart before we sang happy birthday. So disappointed as this cake. it had melted basically plus I decided to try a new chocolate fondant recipe that I should have just stuck with what worked. Oh well live and learn!
AOh and the back had started to fall off. No amount of dowels could holy this one together!
Oh dear, some of these are really bad hehe This is my very first cake that I made, I wanted to make something for my parents who were renewing their vows.
This was before I knew about tiers needing support and about piping, hence the unsteady "congratulations" and the piping around the bottom of the tiers..
When I get home I'm going to have to rummage through my photos and find my cake pictures...I have two in mind for this thread!
