I have not tried gumpaste mix, I use Nicholas Lodge's gumpaste recipe. But you can knead Tylose powder, or Gumtex into fondant and get a similar paste. Here is Nic's recipe.

What I have done is take a piece of fondant about the size of a small tennis ball and knead in about 1 teaspoon Tylose powder, I am not sure how much Gumtex you would use. It still doesn't work as well for me as gumpaste because I can't roll it as thin for flower petals and it doesn't dry quite as crisp. But in a pinch you can use it.
If you have the CK gumpaste mix you just add water. The instructions on the package I have are as follows: 1 cup gum paste mix & 1 tablespoon hot water. Blend 1/2 of the mix and the water in a small, lightly greased bowl. Stir in balance of mix. Mix and form into a ball, grease lightly and wrap in plastic. Let rest for 24 hours. Change water or mix to get the consistancy you desite. HTH
