My daughter's preschool teacher wants me to do cookies and a smash cake for her son's first bday. The theme is sports balls. Would the actual sports ball pan be too big for this? I thought it would at first, but now I'm not so sure. My other thought was a 4-inch cake decorated with the ball theme.

Ideas?

i think the big sports ball would be too big for this. I usually use the #1 pan for a first birthday smash cake. You could decorate it with some ball theme. The smash cake in my experience is a single serving cake.

I agree. The sports ball pan is too big for a smash cake. How about putting a mini-ball on top of a single layer 5 or 6 inch? Or even half a mini-ball.

Why can't you use half the ball pan? Sometimes I do a 6 inch smach.. on layer. You could do half the ball and decorate it..

Thanks! I just bought a 5-inch cake pan. It's so cute!! So now I"m trying to decide whether to use it or half a ball.
