I thought Aussies were supposed to be tough? Baker's ammonia is old school -- it's a leavening agent (also called hartshorn) that was used before baking soda and baking powder. It's still called for in some recipes:

Gee Honeydukes metho is as far as us Aussies go . Don't know about this baker's ammonia, especially as it still smells (ewwww) when cooking. Thank goodness someone invented Baking soda and powder
