I have a chocolate 11x15 with a pudding filling (instant pudding with milk) and one 6" that will go on top with mascarpone and cream. The BC is Crisco and butter. How long should this be out? I let it in the fridge and the icing is firm to the touch. It's about 65° here today. It is being delivered to a bar for a party at 7 p.m. I have lustered fondant pieces and royal for lettering that I am using but had wanted to put those on first then decorate the rest with buttercream around them. In other words, when is it safe to decorate so the royal can sit on it and it won't be out too long. icon_confused.gif

I would think you should keep putting the cake in the fridge between decorating steps, to keep the fillings cold. It really sounds yummy. Good luck.

I make cakes with pudding type fillings all the time. I have no problem. Just deco for a while and put it back in the fridge. You should be able to deco it now if you want. Also, are the royal icing letters standing up, or laying on the cake?????
