Does anyone own this? If anyone does, what are your thoughts about it?

I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!!!!! I never worry about losing a cake. We deliver stacked cakes with no problems.

I make sure to get a deposit equal to the replacement cost of the pieces - including shipping. Sometimes it's a hassle for people to return the stuff, but it's worth it for the peace of mind.

Ditto with Diane,
great investment, worth every penny, especially for tall stacked cakes.

Thanks for all of your alls opinions. I have been looking at this for a while. I have never really tried more than a small two tiered stacked cake because I was scared. I think this may be worth the investment. One more question is it easy to use?

It's insanely easy! All you do is, measure the height of your cake, then screw the legs to that height. Insert the ring and if it's not quite right, just lift it out, make adjustments, and re-insert. No matter what size cake you're stacking, the thing only makes 4 holes. Unlike dowels, where you may need to insert 12 or more.

It cleans up easily, too. It took my last customer almost 2 weeks to get the rings back to me. The rings were in the same condition as when they were first removed from the cake. No one bothered to wipe them off, let alone wash them. The hardened, caked on gunk just rinsed away.

Oh, I can't wait to get this system! I've been eyeing it for a while- just have to get the money. The only problem is you have to get a large deposit on it...I don't think I have the skill to warrant charging that yet!

I just wanted to add my .02: even if you dont think you have the skill (which I'm sure you do... icon_smile.gif ), GET A DEPOSIT equal to replacing them! I have them and really LOVE them. But... my last bride returned one bent. It happens, I understand that. That's what the deposit is for.

As for the cost: it's worth every penny. Just like DianeLM, I deliver my cakes stacked with this. It makes it SUPER easy!

First of all, you have PLENTY of skill, sista! Besides, the customer gets the entire amount back when they return the rings, so it doesn't really matter how much the deposit is. The same would apply if you rented out a cake plateau or fountain. If something happens to it, the customer has to be responsible for the replacement cost.

TammyH and DianeLM, thanks for the lift!

I guess what I was trying to get across is that I'm not sure that I'm ready for that level of business right now. I have never charged for a wedding cake on my own- with the exception of the last one I did for my friend, all the large cakes I've done have been out of someone else's shop. Don't get me wrong, if it came my way I'd take it- but I'm not seeking it out. I'm in a very small town and I think that most people would balk at the prices I would have to charge for cakes, much less a huge deposit on a support system. Soon, when I'm legal and can at least pipe a rose!

I bought mine off of Ebay. I got it for a really good price and then I ordered additional legs in the sizes that I wanted. I LOVE it!!! It makes things so much easier and less stressful!

CD
What did you look for on eBAY as a description? I looked for stress free and it came up with girdles! icon_biggrin.gif
I have wanted to invest in a set for years and have decided this is the year. If they are less on eBAY of course that's where I will go. But I can't find them, help? Another question for those who have them, can they be adapted to use with a square cakes as well as a round?

You can most definitely use them with square cakes.

I also want to point out that I do not use the SFS system plates. I use either foamcore or masonite, or even cardboard. As long as your cake board is strong, you can use the SFS with any shape.

I just happened to run across it by looking under "cake decorating supplies." When I saw it, I nearly fell out of my chair and bid on it immediately. icon_biggrin.gif

I haven't found them yet, but look what I did find! icon_surprised.gif

I think these would be so spectacular to use several of these for a cupcake stand set up at a winter wedding.

And I love, love this one. But if I calculated correctly that is about $128.00 plus shipping from UK, Ouch!

So does this system replace the long dowel throughout the whole cake (I know that it replaces individual dowels in each tier but the way some of you are talking, it almost sounds like this is all you need to travel with a stacked cake . . . could that be true?) I so hate that long dowel through the cake and if this gets rid of it I'd be less afraid to stack cakes!

I have used this cake stand for all of my stacked cakes and I have only used the dowel down the middle on one of them. That is only because I wasn't the one bringing it to the site and I was paranoid they wouldn't transport it carefully enough. haha

This might be an cheaper equivalant to Earlenes system (if that is what you are talking about). I have used this in the past and love it. It is much cheaper and very sturdy. You won't have to have a huge deposit for it either. My 2 cents!
