What exactly is meant by a 1/4 sheet cake, 1/2 sheet cake and full sheet cake? Are these cakes a standard size?

How mush bigger should the cake board be than the cake? Does it make a difference?

Thanks!

Quarter sheet: 9 x 12

Half sheet: 11 x 15

Full sheet: 18 x 24

Try to get one that's for that size since sheet cakes usually only need a simple border.

Well, different people use different guides as far as sheet cakes go. When someone asks for a sheet cake of any size, I always break it down to them as 9x13, 11x15, 12x18.

I like to have 1" to 11/2" extra board all the way around.
