Do the grocery stores and bakeries sell 2" or 3" single layer sheet cakes? For those of you who sell cakes which one do you sell? I've been selling mostly 2" double layer sheet cakes but I'd like to start selling single layer ones. I just don't know if the 2" or the 3" is more popular.

They sell the 2 inch cakes. Rarely will you see a 3 inch sheet cake outside of a specialty decorating situation. When I make my sheet cakes, I like to make them 3 inches just so people think they're really getting something special (which they are icon_wink.gif)

I agree. I hate using the 2" sheet cakes. They just seem, well, whimpy! I much prefer using 3" pans on all my cakes.

I was thinking the same thing...they would look whimpy. Do you think Costco cakes are 3"? I was hoping to not have to purchase more pans and the 3" ones are hard to find.

Well, I just took advantage of the cake central sale on Magic Line 3" pans and bought the 9x13 & the 12x18.
