On the Food Network, I saw where a chef had the dowel bolted into the base, and basically slide the cakes down onto it to form a tower... Kind of "Cake on a Stick"...chuckle icon_razz.gif Seemed to work really well.

Doug's description/instructions is almost EXACTLY how Geof on Ace of Cakes did the lighthouse cake! It was awesome!! Just stacked and carved the shape and covered it! Good luck icon_smile.gif Can't wait to see your cake!
