In April I'm going to be making my own wedding cake. I already have a center tier cake stand (where you cut out the middle of the cakes and screw posts into one another). My concern is I don't want the cake to be too heavy. It's going to be 6 layers consisting of 6-8-10-12-14-16 in tiers. Can the cake stand hold the weight of that much cake?? I keep telling myself it can or they wouldn't have made it that way, but I don't want a disaster the day of my wedding either!! HELP PLEASE!!! 
Yes, you can do that. I have used the Wilton stand for that in the past with no problems at all. Just remember to center the cakes by making paper cut outs to center the cut outs on the cakes.
And be sure to use cardboards under each layer, maybe even double up on the cardboards or use masonite so the cake doesnt fall into itself.
Thanks everyone!!! I will post pictures after I get it made. I'm going to try several practice cakes in the next couple months..... I'm going to try making the cake a day or 2 ahead of time, putting it in the freezer, and then decorating it the day before!! I think that would save me so much time and I could actually enjoy my bridal lunchen and rehersal dinner!!
