I am trying to make my daughters birthday cake for Saturday 1/6
I have not made the cakes yet-not sure when I should,
Anyway, When can I make the MMF?
I have not done much with Fondant- it does not like me!
So, I am wondering, just in case something goes wrong, when can i make the MMF for the cakes?
You can make the MMF when ever you want. A month, a day ahead. Just once its made cover the ball of mmf in crisco then wrap in plastic wrap, put in a air tight bag (zip lock) then I put mine in a plastic container and put it in the pantry! Wala! Then when it comes time to roll out your mmf, just pop it in the microwave for about 20 seconds and then knead for a second then roll!
I've always made my cakes and MMF days or weeks ahead. That way I can spend all my time putting the cake together and decorating it......which is usually a few hours to half a day. I just freeze my cakes....makes them moist. MMF I always make ahead and do what katy625 said.
OMG!!! I have been stressing out over this party!
I did not know I could have made it already!
ok- my day is now going to be filled with FONDANT!!!!
Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!!!

So, if a cake is for Saturday, can I put the whole thing together Thursday?
OK, if you put the cake and the fondant now, depending on the type of cake and filling you have , I suggest refrigeration, wrapped well in plastic wrap. . Two days at room temp. is fine, but then again that totally depends on the cake and filling.
It's the cake that you need to take into consideration and not the fondant. ![]()
So if I am just doing a plain yellow cake flavored with almond and just a plain buttercream filling, I can leave it out, right??
