Can someone please tell me the difference between gumpaste and fondant? Can I make a gumpaste shoe and bow out of fondant? Thanks

Fondant is mostly used to cover cakes and do cut outs. If you want something that has to hold it's shape then you probably want to mix your fondant with gumpaste, gum tex, gum trag or tylose. It will help it hold it's shape, dry faster and harder.

Gumpaste, which can be rolled really thin and dries fast, is used alot for flowers, but can be used for things like bows and shoes.
