Just thought I would share. We have 'Family Dollar' stores where I live and they have great vinyl placemats. They are usually clear with poems, strawberry shortcake, tinkerbell, cars, etc on them. I found really great ones today with the footprints poem. I plan to use it under cookies i'm making for someone who needs a pick me up...but was thinking these would also make great cakeboard covers for square cakes. Of course, some double sided tape between the mat and board is an excellent idea (don't ask how I know this icon_redface.gif ).

Don't you love when you find something on sale or at a good price, and know you have the perfect use for it!

Don't be embarrassed; who cares here on CC. If it's something we can find useful, we'll go to any extent to get it! thumbs_up.gif

That's a great idea. It'd have to be a relaitvely small square cake. Are they big enough for a 10x10? You could put some ribbon around the edge of the cake board to finish it off. Of course with a really sharp exacto knife you could cut it to fit a round. You really have given a fabulous suggestion here.

Kudos to you!!!!!!!!!!! You're a genius!!
