I have two questions:
1.) I am doing a tractor cake for a co-worker next week. She was wondering if I could make a rectangular cake to look like dirt or something and then the tractor cake on top of it. Could I layer the two cakes like this or would I need to do something else before I put the one on top. I am not sure if the tractor cake will be too heavy.
2.) For this same customer, she is picking the cake up Thursday afternoon and won't be eating it until Sunday. Should she refrigerate it or leave it sit out??
Thanks so much!!
You will need to dowel the tractor cake before you put it on the topof the rectangle cake. That will support it and stop it from crushing the cake below.
When are you baking and decorating it. That is quite a long time but refrigeration would depend on what you are using for filling and icing. Is it possible to make the cake closer to when the customer would be needing it. Why is she picking it up so far in advance.

Your tractor cake stacked on another cake would require a cakeboard and dowels like any other stacked cake.
How to for Stacked Cake Construction:

If neither the cake filling nor frosting requires refrigeration, I'd just box it up and let it sit on the counter.

Thanks for the advice about stacking the cake. I've never done that so I will check out the attached link.
The reason the customer is picking up the cake on Thursday is that she is heading out of town and will not see her son, whom the cake is for, until Sunday. There will be no filling, just buttercream icing. Does buttercream need to be refrigerated??
Thanks!
