My sister is getting married at the end of February and I'm making her cake, of course I want this to be the best cake EVER in the whole world and I would like to buy a really wonderful stand for it to sit on (which I get to keep after the event - tee hee!)

I have seen a nice Patience Brewster Krinkles stand, but think it's a bit outlandish for this event. Also quite like the Wilton candle light stand. However nothing's quite right yet so I thought I'd ask my CC chums to help.

The cake is going to be three tiered, ivory with daisies and figures on the top. So the stand is ideally white or cream (I don't like silver or gold ones) I'd like it to be raised high. Any suggestions? I'm UK based but if I can order it online I don't care where it's from!

Please help me find something fabulous for her special day icon_smile.gif

emma, are you imagining someting porcelin like a cake stand/ cake plate or more like a pedestal? i read here one time that someone bought plant stands to set the cake on and i thought that was interesting...definately less costly as well. what is your budget? shape?- round, square, hexagon, petal? is the cake going to be fancy traditional or more your art like style? have you considered having one special made?---

i saw an idea here that people used satin and quilt batting to fancy up a cake board to look like a fancy satin pillow which they presented the cake on. does anyone else remember that thread?

Unfortunately she doesn't want a 'wacky' cake like I usually make, it will be round tiers, three tiers. Ivory icing with daisies spilling down the tiers with the bride and groom modelled on the top. Hmm, plant stands.... Can't say I've seen any very nice ones but I wil have a look now with new eyes!

My budget is unlimited really as I just want to get something really nice for Pip, my sister!

Have you thought about crystal? That might be quite stunning with an ivory cake on top of it. You could even have crystal teardrops hanging down from it.

I saw an ornate white one..it was actually in a set of 3 and it was expensive but not sure if you are looking for something like looks like plaster or whether you want something less ornate...it does stand tall..I know you only need 1 and this is a set of 3....
Anyhow, here is a link(just in case)..

You can also make a stand with glass blocks, tulle (sp?) and lights.

Here's a pic:

You ladies are amazing - thank you so much! It never ceases to amaze me that people who don't know each other are willing to help someone on the other side of the world. I love the pottery barn ones - now need to find a UK supplier as we don't have pottery barn here (in fact I remember an episode of Friends where they talk about Pottery Barn and now I know what it is!)

Emma,
Some of the cutest and most unique cake stands I have seen are from Australia. I think the name of the company is Cake Deco. Let me do a search and see if I can find my catalog and I'll get back to you.
Aha! I found their website, you will need Acrobat reader to see the stands.

And Lindy Smith in England sells some nice and different stands as well.

Oh, and Cynthia Venn in England, I'm sure you know of her website and separators.

Hi Emma,
Yes, I am a member and I collect pedestal cake stands. If you go on eBAY and type in "Pedestal Cake Stands" in search it will come up with hundreds to look through.
