Hello ladies! Well, I thought I had my first Wilton Course III Class last night, but since it was new years it was postponed... but anyway--my DH said he needed a cake so I got on it! icon_smile.gif
Now, I know that sometimes people 'fish' for compliments, but I promise that isn't what I'm doing...I honestly can't decide if I like this cake or not! One time I'll look at it and I'm proud and another time I'll look at it and fight myself not to throw it in the trash!!
Now, granted, this was my first time covering with fondant, working with dropstrings and scrolling--so it was kind of a 'play cake' but still, I don't know if I should include it in my 'cake book' or not!
What do you all think?

I did the border before I know what I was going to do with the rest of the cake icon_sad.gif... so it doesn't match... I should have done a bead border or something... and maybe if it wasn't blue... maybe white on chocolate or blue on brown or something might have made it better... I don't know...

Good heavens. I have been decorating for 2 years and wouldn't attempt all those scrolls. It looks great. Definitely include it - it is something to be proud of.

I think it looks just fine as it is, certainly add it to your cake book. It looks very delicate and I like the shade of blue, you could always add a slightly deeper blue colour, just a little mind, or it will be too much, say maybe the piped dots.

Well done, a lovely cake.

Thanks guys... I was just having one of those moments where you stare and you stare and you stare and you just honestly don't know whether you're even seeing the same cake in your mind anymore! Ya know! Too many 'Well, that looks ok" and "Better luck next time"'s to count... don't know if that makes sense but thanks!
