I have never used MMF before and would like to try my hand at using it for making some detailed decorations to place on a buttercream base. What is the best way to color it? Should I mix it in to the fondant or could I mix up a paint like substance with icing color and paint the color on after I have made my shapes? Please forgive me if this is a silly question, but I am new to the cake decorating tricks of the trade and would appreciate the advice. Also, what is the best way to 'stick' the fondant to the cake, or will it simply adhere to the buttercream frosting? I have always done all of my decorating with buttercream. Thanks in advance to all of your help!
Leslie
it all depends on if you want to coverthe entire cake with a certain color or if you are doing accent pieces. If you were to cover the whole cake, I would color the whole batch of MMF and the best way to do that is to add the coloring to your marshmallows when you nuke em. If you are doing accents, then I would seperate the whole batch into smaller pieces and color each piece by kneading in your "paste" foodcolor.
