I have been baking cakes for awhile, but I they have been 8inch and 9inch round cakes.I recently bought a 10x15x3 cake pan.Can anyone give me a recipe for the cake mix for this size pan?
Hi tahoengirl,
Here are Wilton (party serving) charts that give batter and frosting amounts required by pan size:
http://www.wilton.com/cake/cakeprep/baking/times/party_2inch.cfm
http://www.wilton.com/cake/cakeprep/baking/times/party_3inch.cfm
An 11x15x3 sheet cake pan will require 16 cups of batter.
A cake mix usually yields 4 to 5 1/2 cups of batter, so you would need 3-4 cake mixes for this size pan.
However, if you use a doctored cake mix; you will get more batter per box and a more flavorful cake.
These recipes are very good:
