Hi tahoengirl,

Here are Wilton (party serving) charts that give batter and frosting amounts required by pan size:

http://www.wilton.com/cake/cakeprep/baking/times/party_2inch.cfm

http://www.wilton.com/cake/cakeprep/baking/times/party_3inch.cfm

An 11x15x3 sheet cake pan will require 16 cups of batter.

A cake mix usually yields 4 to 5 1/2 cups of batter, so you would need 3-4 cake mixes for this size pan.

However, if you use a doctored cake mix; you will get more batter per box and a more flavorful cake.

These recipes are very good:

For the 11x15 pan I use 11 cups of batter, for a 12x18 I use 14. 16 cups seems like a LOT of batter for an 11x15!

GeminiRJ, you are using the Wilton recommended 11 cup amount for an 11x15x2 pan.

tahoengirl would use the Wilton recommended 16 cup amount for an 11x15x3 pan.

JanH- Silly of me not to fully read the post! I've never seen a pan that size available in the 3" depth. I'll use that as my excuse.

How long would you bake a 10 x 15 x 3 INCH cake for at 325? Any ideas?

I would think one of the Wilton Yearbooks would have that information.

azlorri, the above Wilton charts also give baking times and temp's.

The closest Wilton pan is 11x15x3 - but that should give you a rough time frame.
